Bitcoin uses proof of work, which is electricity intensive. If it switched to proof of stake (like Ethereum already did), we could reduce electricity use by 99.84%, and Bitcoin advocates need to explain why we shouldn’t do that. Thus far, every time I’ve asked this question I’ve gotten back word salad that doesn’t make sense to me, but maybe someone else can figure this out.
